The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has approved a TIRBOP filing which will result, among other things, in the simplification of title insurance rates. The filing is effective July 1, 2012. A revised Rate Manual and Schedule of Rates will be posted at that time.

The Title Insurance Rating Bureau of Pennsylvania [TIRBOP] is a nonprofit corporation licensed by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department to act as a rating organization for title insurance companies. The statutory authority for the establishment of a rating organization [often called a "rating bureau"] is found in The Insurance Company Law of 1921, 40 P.S. ยง910-41. TIRBOP has been in existence since the mid 1990's.
